General Information
- Juvederm lasts 12-18 months in any area you have it injected.
- Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into wrinkles and folds of the face to "puff" them back out and restore a youthful appearance. Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid but that production declines as we age. Juvederm has been proven to stimulate the body's natural production of collagen.
- Juvederm costs between $500-$700 per syringe.
- Restylane and Juvederm are essentially the same they are just manufactured by different companies.
What is Juvederm?
If you are not familiar with Juvederm, you should be. As we age, the tissues in our faces have the tendency to lose volume and tautness. The underlying skin ultimately starts to sag and cause wrinkles along with other less than attractive features. Juvederm has been specifically formulated in order to rejuvenate the skin and bring back its original fullness.
Both the cheeks of the face and the lips are prone to the visible occurrence of aging. By administering Juvederm with the help of a professional you can free yourself from troublesome wrinkles, and sagging lips.
Juvederm is formulated to act the same way as Hyaluronic acid, also known as HA. In fact, the chemical makeup of Juvederm is comprised of a modified version of HA. HA is a naturally occurring substance in human skin that helps the volume of the skin stay full and robust.
By injecting a small amount of Juvederm into the problem areas of the skin you are able to activate growth into the areas where the skin is deteriorating. When choosing to get small injections into problematic areas, you can cut out the entire surgery process and get a virtually non-invasive procedure done within just a few minutes. There is very little downtime and only a tiny amount of discomfort.
What to Expect from Your Procedure
Juvederm is specifically designed to bring fullness back into the features. Whether it is bringing plumpness back into the lips, rejuvenating and removing the wrinkled areas of the face, or bringing rounded features back into the cheeks the treatment is subtle, quick, and easy. There is not a significant amount of downtime, and the entire procedure can be less than half of an hour to do.
There may be a little bit of pain in the injection site, but nothing extraordinary. The technician simply places a measured out amount of solution into a specifically-targeted area of the face or lips by the use of a syringe.
The technician will be able to administer the solution with precision and skill in a way that will be most beneficial to the patient according to their personal needs and dynamics.
A patient will show up to the scheduled appointment, walk into the procedure room and get the treatment without much of an interruption. Kind of like visiting the doctor for a shot or a vaccine. You come in, you get your treatment, then you go about your day.
Of course, just like any other procedure, you will have to keep an eye on the injection site to see if any excessive redness or swelling occurs. If it does, call the doctor immediately and seek medical attention.
Are There Risks With Juvederm?
As with any procedure, there is a risk factor involved. El Dorado Dental has experienced staff that knows how to accurately and safely administer any of the products that are available to patients, but, in some cases, different people have different reactions to treatment.
If you are prone to allergic reactions or are allergic to lidocaine or Gram-Positive bacterial proteins you may want to consider another form of treatment.
Make sure that your doctor is aware of any prescription drugs that you are taking that could possibly interact negatively with your treatment.
If you are pregnant or are already breastfeeding you should make your doctor aware of it.
If you are taking medication that causes your blood to thin, or could cause excess bleeding you have to let your doctor know.
